The Founder and Visionary Behind EGO
My name is Paul Cote; originally from Beverly, Massachusetts. I began square dancing in 1987 in Berwick, Maine, and called at my first amateur callers night before I graduated Mainstream in 1988. To say I dove in head first would be an understatement. I called throughout New England and the Northeast from 1988-1996 until I had a bit of a meltdown and walked away from the square dance activity for more than 8 years.
After moving to Texas in 2006, I had hoped to start calling regularly again, however multiple moves between 2006 and 2012 made establishing local connections difficult. Now, at the end of 2012, I can confidently call Houston, Texas HOME, and hope to establish a local program as well as traveling when the right opportunities present themselves. I'm not your typical caller. I'm a little rough around the edges. I've just got to be ME...for better or worse. Some call it "Yankee Sarcasm". Others call it an "extremely dry sense of humor". Still others just call it "Cote being a jackass". Whatever you call it, it's who and what I am. In the past few years I have gotten the opportunity to start teaching callers. I personally believe that I have a point of view often missed at many caller school programs. The point of view of a square dance caller first being an ENTERTAINER. I started EGO Recordings almost on a whim. Those who know me can almost HEAR me as they read my words on these pages. Thanks for taking the time to stop by! |
